LES GRANDES ROUSSES
Set high in the Grandes Rousses mountains, Alpe d’Huez has been nicknamed ‘L’Ile au Soleil’ -‘The Island in the Sun’. It boasts the fifth largest ski area in France, linking the villages of Vaujany, Oz, Villard-Reculas and Auris-en-Oisans, to provide its visitors with well over 200km of piste to explore. Not just great for skiing, the resort offers a wealth of amenities, including a superb sports centre, and the use of a large outdoor pool and skating rink as well as numerous shops, bars and restaurants.

Skiing at Alpe D’Huez
The Sarenne ski run is the world’s longest run covering 16 km and is the oldest of the big runs in Alpe d’Huez. It is often the start of many ski adventures and from here you can ski both on and off piste and join runs on Combe du Loup, Côtes de Rivet, Pied Froid, Cerisier comb and corridor. Thanks to the extensive ski lift network, the Sarenne has given birth to some smaller runs, such as La Fare or Château Noir, thus allowing an optimum discovery of the resort. If the Sarenne sounds to challenging for you, do not fear, as there are several nursery slopes, 37 easy runs and 63 intermediate, which is why Alpe D’huez is the perfect resort for all levels of skier.

Après Ski
The resort is famous for its live music and choice of bars and the tunes start as soon as you leave the slopes. Why not pop into Sharkeys for an ice cold beer or a glass of wine and lay back to listen to the acoustic sets on offer. For the more sophisticated, Lounge 21 has a big chill out room and live music until the early hours and of course the Igloo bar/club is open all hours should you wish to stay out really late!
